The MarineKIC Initiative was launched in 2010 in order to promote the creation of a Knowledge and Innovation Community focusing on the sustainable development of marine resources. Given current debates about resource security and the future of our oceans, we believe the time is right for a concerted European initiative, based on the best available knowledge and the highest environmental standards. The MarineKIC initiative is motivated by the enormous size of Europe’s maritime economy and the potential that economic analysts see in this economy for the future.  For more information, see here

The partnership is informal, inclusive and transparent. Our immediate aim is to promote the inclusion of a topic in the EIT’s Strategic Innovation Agenda, which would enable the creation of an integrated MarineKIC. Discussions about an actual MarineKIC, its possible members and business plan, will take place within our informal partnership. If you or your organization would like to receive more information, please contact us.
